What Scripts We Use to Spice Up Orkutting?

Many members query about the userscripts which i use for spicing my orkut life.


Though i like to keep it simple, neat and clean but there are a certain scripts without which orkutting seems incomplete.



Scrap Count on all pages :

This script helps keeping you track of your scraps on all orkut pages. You can easily track any new scraps without checking your scrapbook again and again.

This adds the number of scraps alongside the scrapbook hot link on the top bar.


Quote Messages in a Single Click :

This is one of my favourite scripts. I love using it because i love participating in community conversations. I would highly recommend you to use this one if you are a community talker

This Script Adds a Quote option alongside every reply in a topic so that you can easily quote the message and reply to a specific member's message.

Resize Orkut To Fit Best in Your Browser :
Again, very handy script. I use it on my notebook to get the real feel of orkut.This script resizes orkut to fit best on your browser.


Keyboard Shortcuts for Orkut :

Yay Yay! I feel damn lazy sometimes. These shortcuts come in handy.This user script gives us the option to use keyboard shortcuts for orkut, spicing up the orkutting experience. Just wonder where ever you are on orkut, just a ctrl+shift+s would open your scrapbook.

Hack - Find Owned Communities of Any Member!

As name suggests, this hack allows you to find all owned communities of any orkut member.

This hack works on the gid method. Every profile on orkut has a different gid (in case they have a display pic uploaded). This script searches for the gid of a member, inserts it in the search box and performs the search operation to enlist all communities owned by that particular member.

How do i find all owned communities of a member?

1. Navigate to the profile page of the member

2. Run this script in the adress bar.

Orkut Scrap Checker

Check Scraps without Login to Orkut
You can check your (or any other's) scraps without login to Orkut just by Entering Profile UID in the following program.
You can get your Profile UID by looking at the end of your Orkut Profile URL:
http://www.orkut.com/Profile.aspx?uid=000123456789 <--- this is the Profile UID This Program is developed in HTML+Javascript so you dont need any other supporting files other than Internet Explorer. This program will work only in Internet Explorer How to Use this program: Download the program, unzip it. You will get a file, named "Check_Scraps.html". Now Open this file in the Internet Explorer & Enter the Profile UID & click on "Show Scrap" button to load the scraps. Only First 10 Scraps will be displayed. If you want, You can store the Profile UID, you entered, into your computer just by clicking on "Remember this Profile UID" button & give a Name to this Profile UID. The program will create a Cookie on your computer & store this UID in it. Next time when you open this program, You can fined the stored Profile UID in the List. This program automatically reloaded the page in every 2 minutes. So you will see the latest scraps. Note: This program is based on the response of a site which give the RSS Feed of orkut scraps. So the functionality of this program depends upon that site. This program do not store any thing other than UIDs (only when, you click the "Remember this Profile UID" button). Download File

Userscript - Unlock Locked Albums Permanently!

This userscript is an extension of our previous post to view locked albums. As it is very clear that running javascript everytime you want to view locked albums can be tiring . This userscript once installed will automatically unlock the locked album everytime you click on locked album of any profile.
Note - The script is updated to work with new orkut album feature.

Works With: Firefox Most of the scripts work with Firefox. In case you don't have it installed, you can download Firefox from the left sidebar "Must Download" Section if you wish to.

View Locked ScrapBook - The Hack Is Back

Yes! We have a workaround once again to view locked scrapbooks.

A quick introduction to the post - Using this hack, you can view locked scrapbooks which according to orkut, is not outsourced to non-friends or strangers.


How to use this hack?

1. Navigate to the profile which has disallowed non-friends to view his/her scrapbook
2. Have a look at the script below

3. Replace ProfileUID with the user ID
4. Wait for 4-5 seconds and you will get to see the scraps.

Orkut is Requesting You to Choose New Features!

There is a poll going on at this orkut help page. You can participate in the poll and suggest new features which could make orkuting more enjoyable.

Organize Your Orkut Albums - New Orkut Feature!

If you ever wondered where those 100 pics in album would fit in, or wouldn't it be a mess navigating within that huge number then here is a twist. Orkut has now added a new feature which enables you to organize your orkut albums.


Here is what orkut had to say on this:

Now that you can have 100 photos, we thought you might want to organize them into multiple albums to make it easier for you and others to enjoy. We were looking for ways to group all of our photos on orkut based on the different experiences that they shared. Today, orkut will be launching Photo Albums! Have many photos from a recent trip? Create an album specifically for that trip. Lots of pics from a recent night out with friends? Create another album with just those photos!
All of your current photos will be stored by default in their own album. Feel free to setup new ones by going to "photos" from your homepage. Once you have created an album, simply click on it and start uploading new photos inside. You can also change the cover photo by clicking on "edit" of the photo that you want to appear, and then selecting "album cover."
